About Calvin
Calvin United is a joy-filled, welcoming faith community in downtown Pembroke. We are progressive, open, and inclusive, and we try to practise Christian faith and love in action.
Our story
Calvin began as a Presbyterian church. In 1925 the congregation chose to join The United Church of Canada, which brought together the Methodist, Congregational, and part of the Presbyterian churches in Canada.
The church stands in downtown Pembroke, overlooking the historic Ottawa River. Its building reflects a town that grew up with the lumber industry. The rich wood of the sanctuary, and stained glass windows donated by former lumbering families, make a beautiful setting for worship.

Sunday worship is a time of prayer, singing, and a message to help renew the soul in a challenging world. Afterward we gather for refreshments and conversation. We welcome you.
